Catawissa First United Methodist Church is a rural-based church community with exciting potential. It is our goal to connect people to the heart of God and to one another. We desire to inspire you to worship as you come to know Christ through our weekly services, Bible studies, and community events. When we gather for worship, mission outreach, and spiritual activities, we do so with enthusiasm, loving compassion, eternal hope and solid Christian belief. The reason we exist is for the cause of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. As a United Methodist Church, our mission is to "make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world." We depend heavily on the Holy Spirit of God to make this possible.
We welcome all individuals seeking God’s love, and keep our doors open to every soul seeking to welcome Jesus into their hearts. We invite you to open your heart and allow His grace to penetrate into your soul.
The Church Office is open on Mondays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Messages are checked throughout the week.
Please feel free to call or email us,
if we can assist in any way!
OUR LEADERSHIP AND STAFF
PASTOR SUSAN ROGUTSKI
Pastor Sue Rogutski is a Spirit-filled, morning-loving country girl. Born and raised in rural Clearfield, Pa, she graduated from Clearfield Area High School in 1975 and completed Practical Nursing training in 1977. Sue relocated to Bloomsburg, Pa in 1979 to pursue a BS degree in nursing at Bloomsburg State College. As a registered nurse, Sue was employed at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pa, for the next 16 years specializing in cardiology and cardiac rehabilitation. She received her MS from Penn State in Adult Health and Wellness (with a major in gerontology) in 1986. She developed and marketed a Home-Based Cardiac Rehabilitation program, and just when she thought her future was set, God suddenly called her to take a new direction. In 1988 Sue was appointed Lay Visitation Minister at her local church which eventually led her into pastoral ministry. In 2010 Pastor Sue completed the United Methodist Course of Study at Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, DC and then satisfied the requirements for Associate Membership of the Susquehanna Conference in 2013. Prior to accepting the current pastoral appointment at Catawissa First UMC in 2016, Sue served 11 years as senior pastor at Trinity UMC, Espy.
Pastor Sue leads with enthusiasm, creativity, and passionate spirituality. She does not consider herself to be typical or traditional in her leadership style.
Sue is married to Lenny Rogutski (a police sergeant and registered nurse). They have one furry and hyperactive child named "Calie" (a yellow lab). When Sue has free time, she enjoys traveling, gardening, reading, hiking, biking, ballroom dancing, horseback riding, and savoring every moment of every day!
